Vincent Hie Biography

Art is my passion. I love the beauty of shapes, forms, colors and sounds. I love to draw, paint and make music. Creating something with your mind and hands is truly fulfilling. I have been sketching and painting as far back as I can remember.

I was born in Jakarta Indonesia, but I have been living practically my whole life in the Netherlands. A relatively short period after I have earned my Organizational Psychology Bachelor degree at the University of Amsterdam, I decided to be a professional illustrator and designer on full-time basis.

I have been doing this work for 7 years now and every day is a learning process to get better as an artist. I’m self-taught, but there are so many great artists who inspire and motivate me to push my personal bar higher on a continues basis; Will Eisner, Richard Corben, Frank Miller, Craig Mullins; the great masters like Rembrandt and da Vinci and many many more.

I am not sure if I have a specific style, however if there is one thing that defines my artwork, it’s the attention to detail. Clarity and realism are key elements. I am at the beginning of an exciting and (hopefully) long journey and I feel there is much more technical and artistic potential in me. I hope I will be able to display that the coming years.
